Graduate Interview | Moka Bread: Aiming to Become a Detail-Oriented, Versatile Rigger!

Graduate interview: Moka Bread

The third installment of our graduate interview series features **Moka Bread**.

Moka Bread is a versatile and meticulous Live2D rigger who always pays attention to the smallest details. We spoke with her about how curiosity brought her into Live2D and how she is working toward becoming a commission-ready rigger.

From Curiosity to a Professional Goal

**SODAART: What first inspired you to learn Live2D?**

**Moka Bread:** I happened to see a SODAART ad. I am an extremely curious person XD, so I started wondering how VTuber models work and how they are made behind the scenes. I remember finally giving in and signing up right on the last day of registration, ww.

**SODAART: Did you set a goal when you first started learning Live2D?**

**Moka Bread:** At first, I wanted to be able to complete a VTuber model independently after finishing the course. Now I am working toward becoming a rigger whose skills are ready for commissions.

Information, Interaction, and Different Perspectives

**SODAART: How was the course different from what you expected?**

**Moka Bread:** There was much more information and interaction than I expected from an online course. At first, I thought there would only be videos on the website. Once class began, I discovered live demonstrations and Q&A, enthusiastic teaching assistants reviewing our assignments, and lessons packed with material—especially much more time on physics, www. I never had to worry about falling behind because recordings were available, and the timestamps were amazing!

**SODAART: What was the most valuable thing you gained from the modeling course?**

**Moka Bread:** First, of course, was the knowledge needed to make a Live2D model move successfully. I also made new friends. I never expected to meet so many people through the course, and everyone was so open to becoming friends with me. I am truly grateful ;;

**SODAART: Which lesson left the strongest impression on you?**

**Moka Bread:** Probably week two. I was still unfamiliar with the basic Live2D controls, so I watched the replay of the instructor's demonstrations from that week over and over XD.

**SODAART: Was there any advice from an instructor or teaching assistant that stayed with you?**

**Moka Bread:** Not one particular sentence yet, but their advice and feedback always addressed the exact pain points.

**SODAART: What was the biggest benefit of having teaching assistants review your work?**

**Moka Bread:** The instructors and teaching assistants have different specialties, so I could receive advice from many different perspectives.

Expressions, Body Motion, and Attention to Detail

**SODAART: Which part of rigging do you enjoy most?**

**Moka Bread:** Facial features and expressions. It is fun to create a model with many different expressions XD. And when the artist's illustration looks that good, I definitely want to make such a beautiful drawing move just as well!

**SODAART: Are there any modeling details you are especially particular about?**

**Moka Bread:** Body motion and changes in expression. I use the most parameters for facial features, and that is where I spend the most time thinking. Whenever I see a beautiful illustration or model, I wonder how it moves and how it was adjusted. I also think about how to create motion and face compensation that fit the model.

**SODAART: What is the most difficult part of modeling?**

**Moka Bread:** Honestly, every part is difficult and deserves time XD. From placing the first mesh points, you have to think about whether the model will move smoothly later. Then there are physics settings, constant perspective corrections, and fixing deformations. That is why I think every rigger is truly amazing!

**SODAART: What gives you the greatest sense of accomplishment?**

**Moka Bread:** Seeing a model I made move and look adorable is incredibly rewarding!!!

**SODAART: How would you describe your own modeling style?**

**Moka Bread:** I have not found it yet. I am still working to discover and develop my own style.

**SODAART: What technique would you most like to tackle next?**

**Moka Bread:** I want to challenge myself and improve at creating richer, more varied expressions and body movements.

Advice for Future Students

**SODAART: Do you have any advice for students who are about to begin the course?**

**Moka Bread:** The first few weeks may feel especially tiring because you are learning new software and will encounter many things you do not understand. What matters is being willing to take your time, learn step by step, and ask the teaching assistants plenty of questions—they are always happy to help. I hope every new student can fully experience the knowledge and joy of modeling. Welcome to the Live2D family! (´▽`)
