1/19/2023 — Lord of the Deep Space Domain, Weekly Journal Chapter 14

I meant to write this journal right after ending stream, but I got sucked into cleaning my room instead — and by the time I remembered, it was already way past deadline. RRRR
Today I tried making wax seals for the first time! Wax seals were traditionally used to close envelopes — back in the day, nobles would press their family crest or an elaborate design into wax to seal a letter. That way, if anyone tried to sneak a peek, breaking the seal would give it away immediately.
Wax seals are SO much fun!! I totally get why so many people are into them now — there's something really relaxing about it. You drop colorful wax beads into a little melting spoon and heat them until they turn liquid (kind of like melting chocolate), pour the melted wax onto a marble slab, press a pretty stamp into it, wait about 30 seconds, and boom — a beautiful wax seal. That said, it's surprisingly technique-dependent: if you don't melt enough wax, or you place the stamp in the wrong spot, you won't get a nice clean circle, and the wax around the edges ends up looking thin instead of full. I'll definitely need more practice to really get the hang of it!
Melting the wax is honestly a little dangerous too — it's easy to burn yourself. Luckily A-Mian has decent fire resistance, so a small burn wasn't a big deal, but if you've got kids at home, please be careful with this one!
Oh, and I found another great novel recently. I read just a few chapters in and thought, "wait, this writing style feels really familiar" — and sure enough, I checked the author's name and realized I'd fallen down the same author's rabbit hole again XDDD. Their titles are just so my type — every time I see one of their book titles I can't help clicking in to read the summary, and every single time I end up hooked before I even notice who wrote it. How am I still falling for this?! This one's set in space — the female lead used to play a VR game, and then somehow gets transported into an actual interstellar era that matches the game's setting. To survive, she uses everything she learned from playing the game and keeps getting stronger and stronger! I'm still early into it though (sigh, I always fall for this author's stuff right at the shallow end of the rabbit hole QQ — they're a genuinely good writer who actually finishes their series, but waiting for updates is still painful). I'll share more once I've finished it!
That's this week's journal — as long as the sun hasn't come up yet, it still counts as the 19th, right?! (I know, I know, it's already past 1:30am QQ)
