Kuku's Random Musings — 2023.6.29 🔔

This week's Kuku musings are about something that happened to me recently:

I got a huge, absolutely massive canker sore in my mouth.

Since I don't want to freak anyone out, I won't post a photo.

It started with my upper lip feeling a little swollen for no clear reason.

Then it started rubbing weird whenever I talked.

I figured it was just a minor swelling and would be fine.

Then that same night, after dinner, I kept biting down on it while chewing and it finally broke open.

The next day it officially leveled up into a full-blown white canker sore, the kind that really hurts.

At that point I thought, okay, this isn't going to fly, and started applying medication.

But that happened to line up with a long weekend I spent back home visiting my mom.

Mom cooked up a whole feast, and I stayed up half the night playing Switch with my brother.

And the sore just... exploded in size.

It went from a tiny sesame-seed speck

to roughly half the size of my pinky nail.

The weird part is I'd been applying medication the whole time.

But I guess Mom's cooking was just too nutritious for it, because

not even the medicine could keep up.

Eventually I went to see a doctor.

They gave me this miracle treatment recommended by Cat Grass (I call it "the last rites medicine").

Why do I call it that? Because the second it goes on, it genuinely feels like you're about to die, it hurts that much.

The medication is called Aftach.

It forms a protective film over the wound, and while applying it hurts like crazy in the moment,

afterward eating and talking don't hurt at all anymore. Seriously incredible stuff.

Right now my mouth doesn't hurt at all — basically healed up.

I think it was probably from not drinking enough water.

Feel free to remind me to hydrate more, lol.

Alright, this week's Kuro!
