Kuku's Random Musings — 2023.5.30 ☁

Time to share some good eats I've had lately!

And a place I'd recommend!!

First up:

Koji Biyori

Not sure if everyone's noticed, but "koji" (fermented rice) has been popping up more and more lately — anyone know what it actually is?

Basically, it's rice fermented with beneficial bacteria, and it's packed with vitamins, amino acids, and other good stuff.

Long story short, it's great for your body, which is probably why it's showing up in more drinks and foods these days.

Especially in Japan! Koji is huge there.

Last time I visited Japan I even saw koji ice cream, koji yogurt, all kinds of koji products.

Anyway, the place I want to recommend is Koji Biyori.

Their drinks actually have koji mixed in! If you want to try it, this is a great place to start.

The menu is mostly brunch-style dishes.

Each set comes with a ton of food.

You get toast, soup, an omelet, a main, salad, and soup.

They also offer Japanese-style or Western-style sets!

For the Japanese version, the toast gets swapped for a rice ball!!

The soup becomes Japanese miso soup, and the omelet turns into Japanese-style tofu.

I have to give a huge shoutout to their salmon here.

It's pan-seared perfectly and never too salty... I'm obsessed....

Highly, highly recommend. The whole meal left me full and satisfied.

Unfortunately they're currently renovating and moving to a new location.

So it'll be a while before I can go back and eat there again.

(Already missing that salmon)

Next, a little snack from the night market:

Cheese potatoes!

And my favorite, the chicken thigh rolls!

Some recent nail art too.

A cute new Kuromi cushion I bought.

A stray cat I spotted near the office.

Me, rendered through one of those avatar-maker sites.

And finally, this week's Kuro.

This time it's baby Kuro, back when he looked like a little sea urchin.

So cute.
