[Hikari's Izakaya Diary] SODAART Dinner Party: A Belated Weekly Update... 7/23/2023

I've been a VTuber for a full year now, and I've always been dead set against offline meetups with other VTubers. Well, I finally got dragged out to one. I used to joke with my VTuber friends that they'd have to pay a 10,000-dollar appearance fee just to see me in person. Who'd have thought an agency dinner would be the thing to finally get me out of the house? I guess that just goes to show how much I love SODAART.

The picture above is the only one I took the entire night. Yep, just this bouncy piece of lobster meat. I didn't snap a single picture of anything else—probably because I was having way too much fun talking to everyone. Honestly, it was a little awkward when we first got together, but the more we chatted, the more the ice melted. It was especially great having our new manager, SODAko, there. She's a pro at shooting the breeze, and we quickly realized we all laugh at the same old-school memes. It felt super relatable and welcoming. My favorite moment of the night was when A-Mian looked at the ribs on the table and went, "Whoa! This dish looks amazing!" She looked exactly like a kid visiting the big city for the very first time, completely amazed by everything. XD

This meetup really meant a lot to me. Sure, it was just dinner, but more importantly, it gave me a chance to really get to know my fellow agency members. Typing this out makes me wonder if my usual weekly updates are a bit too serious. XD They always end up sounding so formal! So, I figured I'd wrap this up with a quick story. Right when the dinner started, Soda-sensei was absolutely dying to rub my bald head. I actually let him do it, so he's gonna have to take full responsibility for me from now on!
